Community And Coaching
Making a Difference!
Celtic in the Community was launched in July 2003. Since the inception of the programme over 750,000 young children have attended the various holiday and term time courses. These courses are aimed at youngsters between 4 to 16 years of age, regardless of their ability, race, religion, colour or gender. The youngsters who have taken part have all one thing in common they are all ‘fitba daf't’.
Young children wanting to become the next Aiden McGeady, have the opportunity to improve their skills and techniques, in a safe and fun environment under the auspices of Celtic’s excellent team of Community and Academy Coaches.
The Celtic in the Community Programme delivers hourly coaching sessions at venues throughout Scotland and Ireland. The Club has also delivered courses in North America, Canada, Germany, Cyprus and Australia. The Club has over 100 qualified Community Coaches delivering fun and meaningful coaching sessions to those young children involved.
Mission Statement
The Celtic in the Community programme aim is to engage with all sectors of the Community and provide a high quality, reputable coaching service that works with local communities to expose in particular youngsters to a coaching and development programme that is both enjoyable and educational.
Services / Products
Celtic in the Community through its unique coaching programme(s) intends to differentiate its service or product in three ways:
- through its people/staff;
- through its facilities/locations
- through its processes - superior coaching programmes to meet specific markets.
First Team Coach and Head of Youth Tommy Burns says; the Community Programme continues to go from strength to strength. The various programmes and courses provide opportunities for young people to practice their skills and meet new friends, in addition to the club identifying talented young players for the Academy.
Many of the community coaches who work in the Community Programme work at the Academy in Glasgow. This ensures continuity for the players when and if they progress into the Academy.
The satisfaction you get from seeing young children having fun and mastering new skills is also very rewarding. The Club should be applauded for continuing to support this excellent initiative.
