Parma kick-off with the SPL champions, wearing the club's new all-green away kit, shooting towards the Lisbon Lions stand. Stephen McManus once agin captains Celtic.

Zurawski makes headway on the left flank but his deep cross evades partner Vennegoor of Hesselink

This time McGeady leaves two Parma defenders in his wake, but as Vennegoor of Hesselink heads his cross back towards Zurawski, the danger is cleared

Mark Wilson shows great skill to jink free on the right and Donati eventually meets his cross - but the left-foot volley doesn't trouble Bucci

More good work from McGeady on the left wing but Donati is penalised for handball as the move breaks down

Parma striker Igor Budan sprints into space on the left channel, but his left-foot effort goes yards over the bar

Clear opening have been minimal, but Celtic seem confident in the opening exchanges - with Scott Brown, Donati and McGeady in the thick of the action

McManus finds himself clear in the box as he meets Naylor's curling free-kick but, with the goal at his mercy, the Hoops skipper puts his downwards header past the upright. Celtic's best chance yet.

Parma react immediately and Daniele Dessena finds himself through on goal, but Mark Brown produces a fine save

Brown gathers Andrea Pisanu's cross at the second attempt as Parma start to creep into game

With McGeady off the pitch to get treatment, Wilson and Brown combine superbly on the right wing - only for Couto to sweep up intelligently for Parma

A neat interchange involving Brown, Hartley,Donati and Zurawski releases Wilson on the right. With McGeady waiting to meet his centre, Ferdinand Coly steps in for the Italians

Slick, one-touch passing from Donati and Brown sees the Scotland internationalist burst from the centre, but Vennegoor of Hesselink can't get a shot on goal from his reverse pass

Better play from Celtic again. McGeady combines twice with Zurawski, who eventually picks out Vennegoor of Hesselink. The Dutchman lays the ball off to Brown, whose curling shot is just too high.

Parma all over the place as Celtic visibly up the pace. Brown is in the middle of the attack again - winning possession and setting up Hartley. His shot is blocked, as is McGeady's follow-up, before Zurawski volleys wide from eight yards. A real let-off for the Italians

McGeady leaves Coly for dead with a sublime turn and Vennegoor of Hesselink meets his cross, but the volley goes wide

McGeady, profiting from good work by Donati, cuts inside and tests Bucci with a low shot. The Italian collects his effort at the second attempt

Brown and Couto cautioned after collision near the corner flag

HALF-TIME: Good performance from Celtic to this point, with the SPL champions unfortunate not to be a goal ahead.

No changes for Celtic at the break.

Naylor picks out Brown at the back post but his lay-off is nicked from Hartley's toe.

Pisanu's rising drive is saved comfortably by Brown in the Celtic goals.

Bucci pulls off a tremendous stop to deny Vennegoor of Hesselink. McGeady's floated ball is met by the Dutchman, but the Italian goalkeeper saves the day. From the resultant corner, McManus heads over

Celtic substitutes start to warm up as Gordon Strachan considers changes

Parma make a raft of changes, while Chris Killen enters the fray for Celtic to make his home debut for the club - with Maciej Zurawski making way

Killen almost handed a dream start, but an offside flag prevents him from collecting McGeady's pass

Parma capatilise on some slack Celtic passing to burst forward but Morrone's shot is too high

Youngster Paul Caddis replaces Mark Wilson and Kenny Miller comes on for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink as the game enters its closing stages

McGeady strikes the bar from 23 yards. Donati wins a free-kick on the edge of the area and the winger curls his effort perfectly over the wall. With Bucci beaten, the ball comes crashing off the woodwork

Gary Caldwell, returning from injury, replaces the impressive Massimo Donati

Killen and Miller combine to create space, but the New Zealander can't meet his strike partner's low cross

Kennedy is booked for a late tackle as Parma search for a leveller

FULL-TIME: A good win for Celtic against a decent Parma side. The Hoops should have been ahead at the break, but continued to press in the second period and were rewarded when Aiden McGeady grabbed a fine winner. The victory will be the ideal boost for Gordon Strachan's side ahead of next Sunday's SPL opener with Kilmarnock.
