CELTIC Football Club are delighted to announce the fourth new signing of the summer, with Dutch centre-back Glenn Loovens joining on a four-year contract.
The highly sought-after 24-year-old agreed terms this afternoon (Saturday, August 16) after his former club, last season’s English FA Cup Finalists, Cardiff City, accepted an undisclosed offer.
The former Dutch Under-21 internationalist joins fellow new Bhoys, Georgios Samaras, Pat McCourt and Marc Crosas in Gordon Strachan’s first team squad and told celticfc.net of his delight in signing for the Scottish champions.
“It really is a tremendous honour to sign for a club of Celtic’s stature,” said Loovens. “I am really looking forward to playing for a team that has such an incredible history and well-known and passionate supporters.
“The club has enjoyed great success in recent years, winning titles and cups in Scotland and doing well in the Champions League.
“I am looking forward to the challenges here and hope to play my part in further honours.
“I just can’t wait to get started.”
