Gill has a BEd (Hons) in physical education from Edinburgh University and a postgraduate certificate in 'supporting professional growth in education' from Stirling University and is now doing distance learning modules with Harvard University Graduate School in education in 'educational theory'. She holds a variety of coaching awards in different sports including up to 'club coach' with SFA.

Played in and captained Edinburgh University women's football team before joining Arsenal North in 2002. At the club held the roles of player, coach and manager before the takeover by Celtic in 2007.

Gill works with the women's national team doing video analysis.

Coaches school football teams at various age groups. At Celtic works on fitness work, rehabilitation on injured players, first team administration and individualised technical programmes.
