The introduction of our women's and girls' programme was a natural progression for Celtic and has proved to be a welcome boost for women's and girls' football in Scotland. As well as a grassroots girls-only coaching programme and primary school initiative for girls, such as 'Creating Chances', Celtic has teams playing at ages 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 as well as the first team playing in the Scottish Women's Premier League and our Development Squad in the Scottish Women's Football League Division One.

Celtic's women's and girls' teams are now their sixth season, hoping to add to the success of the past few seasons.

Celtic 17s League Cup Winners and Celtic 13s are League Champions.  Last season was a difficult period for the First Team with several key players injured for most of the season, but with four significant new signings plus graduates from the Girls' Academy are now in a much stronger position to push for honours.

It has been widely recognised that spectator attendances at all age groups has increased substantially as a result of Celtic's involvement in women's football. The Club is raising the profile of the women's game in Scotland on a weekly basis and mainstream press and TV coverage is now an increasingly frequent occurrence.

The introduction of the Celtic women's teams and Girls' Academy has created a 'buzz' in the women's game.

Robert Docherty, Head of the Celtic Foundation under whose umbrella the female programme operates: "The progress within our Academy has been remarkable in such a short time and we are now seeing the benefit of the excellent work being done in this area. Many teenagers are now playing in our First Team, and the average age of the Development Squad, playing in senior football is just 17. We have three current Scotland full international players, four players in the Scotland U19 squad, and a remarkable number of girls in the Scotland U17 set-up.

"To take the next step, we have to make the Club competitive in attracting new recruits, particularly at senior level, so we are looking for help in the form of sponsorship.
